KSAS Community Engagement: #Nogmung
#ToLeadIsToServe

KSAS Diploma students – Lahpai Sut Awng, Bawmwaw Zawng Nan May, Magau Zai Sam and Mwihaw Seng Nu Tsin – organized English classes and learning activities with 87 students in Nogmung Town, northern most part of Kachin State. This town has over 700 households and primarily depends on farming, fishing and collecting traditional herbal medicines from jungle for their living. The team plans to engage further for education development in Nogmung.

To Lead is to Serve: #Pahki #Putao

Lamung Myu Li, Augustine Gyidu Sut Ring Awng and Hkalik Zau Myit Ding – KSAS Students – spent a month with 63 students at Pahki Village, 6 miles from Putao in northern most part of Kachin State. Pahki villagers (total population of 200) still striving for a better education while many of them are earning their living from subsistence farming and fishing.

Thanks to Government Primary School for letting the team use the school building for the training and learning activities.

Two KSAS Students – Nhkum La Nu and Nhkum Sut Ring Naw- traveled deep inside Hkahku (Upstream Kachin) area between Mali and Hpungmai Rivers in northern part of Kachin State, and reached out to 35 children in Htingbu Kawng Village who have no access to basic education and facilities. Total population is 117 and mainly earn their living from shifting cultivation. Along their journey, they visited several important places in Kachin history.

KSAS Community Engagement: #Sumprabum #ToLeadIsToServe
Three KSAS Students – Maran Hkawn Ring, Sana Seng Nu Mai and Lachyung Zau Lat Awng – served as volunteer teachers at Sumprabum reaching out to 62 students and experienced local livelihoods and tradition for the whole April 2017.
